Who is eligible for the Fuel Savings Transportation Program?

Commercial vehicles weighing 4,500kg or more, and registered in New Brunswick as medium or heavy duty (i.e. trucks, trailers and freight transportation) are eligible for the Fuel Savings Transportation Program.

What are the eligible devices and products?

Eligible devices and products must result in fuel-savings and fall under the following categories:

  • Aerodynamic devices
  • Low rolling resistance tires
  • Anti-idle devices
  • Refrigeration technologies
  • Fuel-efficient driving devices

All devices and products must meet the minimum requirements as defined by the Department of Transportation and/or must be approved by an authority having jurisdiction.

Where can I purchase devices covered under the program?

Eligible devices and products must be:

  • Purchased from a New Brunswick retailer or distributor
  • New (used and/or refurbished devices/products are not eligible)
  • Installed by an accredited professional (the purchase and stock of uninstalled/spare parts does not qualify for rebates)
  • Purchased and installed on or after April 1, 2023

What information do I need to apply?

During the application process you will be required to provide the following documents as attachments:

  • Copy of signed Certificate of Vehicle Registration
  • Copy of invoice and receipt/proof of payment of eligible devices/products
  • Copy of invoice and receipt/proof of payment for Installation of eligible devices/products
  • Signed copy of the Direct Deposit Enrolment Form

Who is paying for this program?

The program is part of New Brunswick’s Climate Change Action Plan funded by the Climate Change Fund. 

What happens when the funding is exhausted?

This is a provincially funded program and rebates will be available on a first come first served basis until budget is reached and further funding will be assessed in the future.

Do I have to be pre-approved to participate?

No pre-approval is not required. Rebates are available for eligible devices and products purchased and installed on or after April 1, 2023. Applications must be submitted once all work has been completed. Rebates will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis until funds are depleted.

Is there a limit on the rebate amount I can receive?

Yes, there is an annual cap of $250,000 per eligible participant.

When does this program start?

Rebates under this program are available retroactively for all eligible upgrades, purchased and installed on or after April 1, 2023 until funds are depleted.

How long will it take to receive my rebate?

After your application is approved you will receive your rebate within 60 days by direct deposit. If direct deposit information was not provided, a cheque will be mailed to you.
