Building a house can be stressful. Finding the right builder is key to making your project a success. When looking for a builder, consider these things:

  • What training does the organization have around the National Building Code or energy efficiency?
  • Does the organization have liability insurance coverage?
  • Does the organization adhere to WorkSafe NB processes and procedures?
  • Does the organization have a business number with Revenue Canada and do they collect HST?
  • Will the organization provide all contracts in writing?
  • Does the organization provide a warranty on the home or their work?

There is no official registry of builders. NB Power highly recommends builders affiliated with the Energy Efficient Builder list. Builders on this list have taken training around the National Building Code as well as building science and energy efficiency.
