The Enhanced Energy Savings Program is designed for New Brunswick homeowners who could benefit most from energy efficiency upgrades, especially insulation and air sealing. If your combined household income is under $70,000, you may qualify for free upgrades that help lower your energy use and reduce your bills.
The program is open to all eligible homeowners, no matter how you currently heat your home or who your energy provider is. It also includes support to switch from oil heating to a more efficient system, helping improve comfort while cutting energy costs.
The Enhanced Energy Savings Program helps New Brunswick homeowners lower their energy use and monthly costs through targeted, no-cost upgrades. All work is completed by an NB Power-approved contractor of your choice.
Upgrades may include insulation for basements, attics, and walls, ventilation improvements to address air quality or moisture issues, and energy-efficient heat pumps for heating and cooling. If you currently heat with oil, the program can also support a switch to a more efficient heating system, helping you move away from oil while improving comfort and reducing energy costs.
From drafty windows and doors to cold basements and attics, these free upgrades are designed to make your home more comfortable and affordable to run.
It’s easy to get started with the Enhanced Energy Savings Program. Follow these simple steps for free energy efficiency upgrades.
1
Complete our online registration form and provide the required documentation (a copy or photo of the most current income tax Notice of Assessment showing Line 15000 for each adult living in the home).
2
If you meet all eligibility requirements, you will receive an email or letter from NB Power confirming you have been accepted into the program.
3
Within 2 to 3 weeks of confirmation of your participation, our Service Organization will contact you to schedule a Pre-Upgrade Evaluation. During this appointment, the Energy Advisor will look at all areas of your home to determine if your home can benefit from efficiency upgrades.
4
The Upgrade Contractor will work with you for access to carry out the work. This may occur between 2 to 7 months following your Pre-Upgrade Evaluation. You will receive training on the use, operation and warranties of any new equipment and receive tips on how to maintain your home for optimum energy efficiency and savings.
5
An Energy Advisor will visit your home to conduct a Post-Upgrade Evaluation.
6
If you receive a mini-split heat pump through this program, you receive a 10-year warranty for parts and labour. Three free deep cleans will also be provided within the 10-year period.
Customers are responsible for regular filter cleanings and keeping the outdoor area around your mini-split heat pump clean and free of snow/ice build up.
