Are you Eligible?

To be eligible to receive rebates, Participants must be registered either before the building permit date of issuance (preferred option); or at a maximum, within 30 days of the building permit date of issuance.

Either builders or homebuyers (defined in this program as people having homes built) can participate in the program; builders must sign and agree to a Builder Agreement to participate in the New Home Energy Savings Program. A Builder Agreement only needs to be signed once. Contact NB Power to learn more about Builder Agreements.


Benefits & Savings

By participating in the New Home Energy Savings Program you will receive an EnerGuide label which you can use to participate in mortgage insurance refund programs through the Canada Mortgage and Housing Corporation, Sagen, and Canada Guaranty. Each program offers a partial refund on the cost of mortgage loan insurance. 

Renovate with energy efficiency in mind and you may be eligible for a refund of up to 25% of your premium. The energy saving measures you perform through the New Home Energy Savings Program can help you qualify for an insurance premium refund!


How it Works

It’s easy to get started with the New Home Energy Savings program. Follow these 6 simple steps to total home comfort and savings.



Complete our online registration form before you apply for your building permit or call us at 1 800 663-6272. Select the Service Organization of your choice. 


Have your building plans modeled

After registering, you will be contacted to begin the process of modeling and evaluating your plans. A program fee ($99+ HST) is required before modeling begins. You can expect your building plans to be modeled within three to four weeks of the date of your registration.


Review Report

Based on your plans, your CEA will suggest changes to make your new home more efficient. Suggestions will align with the program's 2 incentive levels.


Build Your Home

Choose your efficiency and incentive level and build your home to those specifications. Be sure to save your receipts and product stickers!


Final On-Site Evaluation

Your Certified Energy Advisor will do an on-site evaluation. The results will be used to determine any incentive you may be eligible to receive.


Receive your incentive!

Save your required receipts and product stickers to ensure you receive your incentives. Receiving your payment is quick and easy.
